Northamptonshire County Youth Brass Band

The Northamptonshire County Youth Brass Band is a group run by the Northampton Music and Performing Arts Centre. It will be celebrating it's 40th anniversary this year. The Band was started by John Berryman who currently conducts Kibworth Band from Leicester. Since then the band has been conducted by many of the brass teachers from northampton and is currently under the direction of Brad Turnbull who plays trombone for the International Staff Band.

Members of the band audition each year for their position in the band each year. CYBB recently achieved a Highly Commended award at the National Festival in Symphony hall, Birmingham and was mentioned for its high standard of soloist playing. The Band also came 4th in the premiere section of the National Youth Brass Band championships, and 4barsrest said "The Band benefited from some excellent solo playing, none more so than the band's euphonium player who was excellent throughout".

The Band also goes on tour every two years and has recently come back from Poland where it recorded for Polish national radio and played in many successful concerts covering a large area of Poland. The band has also been to Italy two years ago and is due to go again in 2009.
